A contest is being held to name the baby giraffe at the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
The baby Rothschild’s giraffe was born Oct. 18 and, according to zoo officials, she’s bonding well with her brother Amryn.
The older sibling has been seen reaching over the fence, touching smelling and licking her.
The unnamed baby currently spends most of her days in a heated indoor enclosure and is starting to eat solid foods that the rest of her family enjoys, such as grain, bamboo and blackberry leaves.
The winner of the naming contest will receive a one-year family membership to the zoo, as well as a “behind-the-scenes encounter” with the baby giraffe. The runner-up will receive a one-year family membership.
The contest closes Jan. 15 and the winner will be announced Jan. 18 when the baby turns three months old.
