Despite several high-profile incidents at this year’s Calgary Stampede, many people are still calling it the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
Michelle O’Neil said while it was her first time at the world-renowned rodeo and fair, she wasn’t disappointed despite some hiccups.
“I just moved here last year from Toronto and I heard lots about it and it didn’t let me down. I will definitely come back again next year, I still feel like there is so much to see,” she said, adding her favourites were the rodeo and midway food.
“I know that there was some controversy about the horses dying and the ride that broke, but I don’t think that is the Stampede’s fault.”
Calgarians Kevin Larch said he wished the weather was better but still had a good time overall.
“It was pretty wet and rainy the first few days, but it just meant I came back when the weather was hot. It’s always a good time down here,” he said.
Calgary Stampede spokesperson Doug Fraser said officials would talk about this year’s Stampede at a press conference this morning.
