Young Green party supporters stood with duct tape across their mouths in the crowd of shouting Conservative, Liberal and NDP partisans on Rideau Street before the federal leaders’ televised debate yesterday.

The tape signified Green party Leader Elizabeth May’s exclusion from the debate, but they took it off to explain that to passing reporters and shout jeers and cheers of their own.

“They spend their tax dollars like they use gas —they’re wasting it,” shouted youth vote co-ordinator Jonathan Halasz as two Conservative party buses drove by honking.
