Calgary’s mayoral race just got a little more crowded, and a little more balanced.

Calgary-Buffalo Liberal MLA Kent Hehr announced his campaign plans at the Westin Hotel yesterday, touting his “New Way Forward” message.

“Calgarians need a mayor who will bring a fresh new vision to city hall, not just continue the same old ideas,” his press release said.

Hehr, a born and raised Calgarian, said he would still continue on as the representative for the provincial riding, but his salary would be donated to charity.

Hehr, 40, and former lawyer at Fraser Milner Casgrain, joins Ric McIver, Paul Hughes, Joe Connelly and Jon Lord as candidates .
