Gunshots ‘scary as hell’

Residents of a southeast neighbourhood are feeling a little uneasy after two homes were shot at and damaged early yesterday morning.

The two homes, located in the 200 block of Penswood Way SE, flank both sides of one Calgary woman’s home.

The resident, who chose not to give her name, said she and her husband woke to the sounds of what she described as “shotguns going off.”

“My husband heard them going off and thought maybe he was having a dream or something, and next thing you know, there was police all over the place,” she said.

“It’s scary as hell.”

Duty Insp. Paul Stacey said police are asking for public assistance in identifying those responsible for the gunshots.

“We combed this area with a fine-toothed comb at the time,” he said. “Investigators are looking into all the possibilities.”

The resident in one of the homes said he had lived in that home for years and believes the hole in his front window may be the result of a stray bullet.
