Guy Show loaded with toys

Chris Buchanan was tired of being hauled around to various trade shows in Ottawa.

But the city resident — who attended a Christmas craft show, a home and garden show and even a women’s show with his girlfriend and various female friends over the last two years — has finally found an event that catered to his interests.

Buchanan was one of about 20,000 people to attend The Guy Show at Lansdowne Park over the weekend.

“It’s payback time,” chuckled the outdoor enthusiast, who checked out some fishing boats, Lamborghinis, ATVs and hot tubs and raced remote control cars.

Whatever it is that attracts men, The Guy Show seemed to have it.

Attendees got to try out ATVs at the Can-Am booth, where show officials had truckloads of dirt brought into the parking lot.

Over at Bombardier Recreational Products, attendees test drove a Spyder, a convertible car-motorcycle hybrid that company rep Scott MacWilliam said will be seen on the roads this summer.

“Throughout history, guys have always liked machinery and performance,” said MacWilliam. “It’s the feeling of freedom and power.”

“These are toys for boys,” said show co-founder Drew Deyell.
