A Halifax Regional Police officer suffered minor injuries after he was struck in a crosswalk by a truck yesterday morning at Spring Garden Road and Queen Street.

Police say the officer was on routine patrol and was crossing the street at the intersection when he was struck by the truck.

“He had to jump and turn to avoid being hit fully by the truck,” said Staff Sgt. Barb Saunders, adding he was struck in the hip.

The officer was checked out at hospital and was released and returned to duty.

The driver of the truck was issued a summary ticket for a crosswalk violation.
