Edmonton police have charged a Halifax couple following an apparent phony kidnapping.
A manhunt began after 22-year-old Chantel Lorenz was allegedly abducted from a downtown apartment building Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses told police that Lorenz’s boyfriend was assaulted before the alleged kidnapper dragged her to a waiting vehicle.
“Certainly, there was an assault that occurred,” Edmonton Police spokesman Jeff Wuite said, adding the investigation is ongoing. “As far as what people perceived as an abduction, we’re really not at liberty to discuss it.”
The pair turned themselves in to Calgary police Monday afternoon.
Thomas Bradstock, 47, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Lorenz was arrested on several outstanding warrants.
