HALIFAX - A Halifax taxi driver has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of sexually assaulting a female passenger in his vehicle.

HALIFAX - A Halifax taxi driver has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of sexually assaulting a female passenger in his vehicle.

A preliminary inquiry was held Wednesday in Halifax provincial court for John Joseph Norris.

After hearing testimony from the alleged victim, a 22-year-old woman, Judge Bill Digby ruled there was enough evidence for a trial.

Police said a woman was riding in a Casino taxi last April 16 when the driver allegedly touched her in an inappropriate manner.

Norris no longer works for Casino.

He is to appear in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Halifax on Feb. 2.
