The Halifax District RCMP has its first commissioned female officer.

Insp. Joanne Crampton has been named the new operations officer for the district and will be responsible for the day-to-day front line operations of all the RCMP Halifax detachments.

Crampton joined the RCMP in 1998 and was commissioned to the rank of inspector to the province of Nova Scotia in January 2008.

“She brings a wealth of operational experience through her diverse policing background and I’m confident she will contribute significantly to our overall policing efforts in HRM, including crime reduction,” said Supt. Darrell Beaton, officer in charge of Halifax district.
