The Halifax Shipyard is hiring 173 people this year to repair and
maintain seven navy frigates including the HMCS Charlottetown, HMCS St.
John's and HMCS Halifax.
The Canadian Navy awarded the shipyard a $549 million contract in March 2008.
Work has already begun on some ships and it will take about 16 months to upgrade and modernize each ship.

The shipyard has already filled 85 positions and they are looking to fill 88 more technical and managerial jobs.
Irving Shipbuilding Inc. says the project is scheduled to be completed by 2017.
