The Hydrostone Market is a pleasant area of town to do lunch. Hamachi Kita, part of the family of Hamachi Restaurants, features Bento Box Lunch Specials.

Bento One has several offerings: light and nicely cooked tempura shrimp, zucchini, sweet potato, butternut squash and carrot; tender and tasty teriyaki chicken on rice (beef or shrimp are other choices); and maki sushi: three-piece cucumber and a choice of three salmon or tuna maki. I choose tuna. It’s all fresh, served with soy and wasabi. To round it off, a refreshing house salad with ginger carrot dressing.

My pal’s Sushi Lunch starts with a small bowl of hot miso soup. His sushi assortment includes salmon, tuna, butterfish as a substitute for red snapper, tamago nigiri (egg), and a six-piece combination of salmon and tuna maki.

It’s delicious but not the most filling lunch in town. But I have enough to share and we leave with that healthy feeling Japanese food creates.
