Hamilton mayor plans to push for light rail

Hamilton’s mayor plans to lead a team to obtain federal and provincial funding for a light rail transit line for the city.

Hamilton’s mayor plans to lead a team to obtain federal and provincial funding for a light rail transit line for the city.

Fred Eisenberger said the team of government relations professionals and civic and community partners will make a pitch for money to the ministers at both levels of government.

He said the city needs a minimum of $850 million to put in light rail transit, which he thinks will boost property values and lead to lower taxes.

It’s one of his five priorities as mayor.

He has not announced the team members yet.
