A 17-year-old male is in critical condition at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax following a two vehicle head-on collision on Route 19 late Wednesday evening.
According to Port Hawkesbury RCMP, a vehicle travelling in the southbound lane lost control and collided with another vehicle traveling north around 10:20 p.m.
The 17-year-old passenger of the southbound vehicle sustained serious head injuries and was airlifted to Halifax. The adult male driver of that vehicle is being investigated for impaired driving and RCMP have obtained blood samples for testing. If the man’s blood alcohol level is over the legal limit he will be charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.
The female driver of the other vehicle was treated in hospital and released. A dog travelling in the car with her was killed on impact.
