Heading back to city hall

It’s time once again for city hall to go to work.

Mayor Stephen Mandel is ready to move forward with a new council and a new year.

But before council can officially get going, Kerry Diotte and Dave Loken, along with the roster of incumbent councillors, must be officially sworn into their council positions.

The culmination of months of hard work campaigning has paid off, as Mayor Stephen Mandel will present Diotte and Loken to the public as the newest members of city council today at city hall this afternoon.

“I’m looking forward to it. There’s a real sense of doing things at city council and moving each other forward, so I am excited but I always temper it,” said Mandel.

“I think that when I was first elected to council it was a special time, and the first time I was elected Mayor it was a special time. I think (it) will be a wonderful day for everyone.”

The inauguration ceremony officially recognizes Diotte and Loken as city councillors and gives their families an opportunity to visit council chambers during their first session.
