Headphones may have had role in bike crash: police

19-year-old cyclist was taken to thehospital with life-threatening injuries

Toronto police suggest a bicyclist's headphones may have led to his serious crash.

On Thursday at 11 p.m., police say officers responded to a collision on Coxwell Avenue, north of Casci Avenue.

A 19-year-old man was riding his bicycle on Coxwell Avenue when he turned into the path of a van and was hit. The cyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet but was wearing headphones, "which may have limited his ability to sense his surroundings."
