The Alberta Health Services super-board unanimously agreed to give themselves a 25 per cent pay raise on Wednesday, despite an expected deficit of more than $1 billion.

The 15 members will now receive $50,000 annually for their part-time job plus $750 for each board meeting. Chairman Ken Hughes will get $75,000 annually and $1,000 per board meeting.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation argues that they don’t deserve a raise because the board is so new and they haven’t done anything yet.
