Hearing in Taser incident

A public hearing will look at the reasons why a B.C. Transit Police officer fired his Taser at an intoxicated man in a SkyTrain stairwell in September 2007.

Const. Dan Dickhout was conducting fare checks when he encountered Christopher Andrew Lypchuk, who had not paid his fare and had two beer cans in his possession.

Following a pursuit into a stairwell, Lypchuk was hit with a Taser and fell. He suffered injuries to his head.

An external investigation conducted by the VPD in 2008 said the allegation was unsubstantiated. The decision was later overturned.
