Ottawa’s newest Senator would like to see Dany Heatley in the dressing room next season.

In his first meeting with the press yesterday, right winger Alex Kovalev urged Heatley to stay in Ottawa.
“This year is going to be important. His help is needed,” he said.

Ottawa signed Kovalev, a former Montreal Canadiens forward on a $10 million US, two-year contract.
Sens general manager Bryan Murray called Kovalev an impact player who influences the team strategy.

“When Alex agreed to come to Ottawa, I might have been the most excited guy for a period of time,” Murray said.
