Heavy winds knocked out power to more than 30,000 people, felled trees and disrupted the afternoon commute yesterday.

SkyTrain service was interrupted around 3:30 p.m. because of fallen branches, and a tree brought down power lines over train tracks in Coquitlam, bringing the West Coast Express to a halt. When it started rolling again, it bypassed Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam stations while crews worked to clear the tracks.

There were also reports of trees falling on vehicles around the Lower Mainland. Rain and colder-than-usual temperatures reaching as high as 14 C are expected today and tomorrow.
