Two aircraft strewn about Calgary may be made whole once again, and a city committee is debating spending $80,000 to do it.
The de Havilland Mosquito and Hawker Hurricane, two Second World War-era planes, are currently in pieces.
But since one of the warehouses storing the Mosquito is slated for demolition, administration is recommending they be moved to one central warehouse.
“They’re both city assets. They’re valuable, they really should be brought together in a safe and secure space,” said Ward 2 Ald. Gord Lowe.
Professional aircraft consultants are needed for the move and it’s import0ant to keep the plane together, said a man behind the push to preserve the aircraft.
“None of those storage places are good for the preservation of the planes,” said Richard de Boer, Calgary Mosquito Society spokesperson.
