I do agree that police chases should be minimized for public safety reasons.
When the helicopter trial program was started in Toronto, I cheered and thought this would curb a lot of the road pursuits as the chopper could track a vehicle without creating a high-speed chase.
It seems the politicians, in their infinite wisdom, decided against this. City and provincial money is frittered away on many things that have no effect on the well-being of the public. I think a million or so to fund the helicopter program is a small price to pay if it saves lives of innocent people.
