Help sought in arson probe

Police are looking for the public’s help in trying to determine who is responsible for a number of fires being deliberately set in a Dartmouth neighbourhood.

Police are looking for the public’s help in trying to determine who is responsible for a number of fires being deliberately set in a Dartmouth neighbourhood.

Halifax Regional Police say five fires have been intentionally lit in the Lakecrest Drive area since early September. The most recent arson, according to police, came last Wednesday in the laundry room of an apartment building.

Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said of the five arsons, three have taken place in this same apartment building.

He describes the fires as “relatively minor,” although in one instance a car was set ablaze.

Police believe at least some of the fires are related, but have no conclusive evidence to confirm that.
