One dollar at a time, one shingle at a time.
That’s how the RBC Keep a Roof Over Their Heads fundraiser intends to help homeless women and their children through the YWCA as the second annual event was launched yesterday at Sunridge Mall.
“We just want Calgarians to know every dollar goes toward a single shingle and it all adds up,” Arlene Adamson of the YWCA said.
The YWCA and RBC teamed up yesterday to create awareness for the event and hope Calgarians will donate online for a good cause.
RBC spokesperson Tasha Giroux said the event is about giving back to the community.
“We just realize how important it is to help because we all live and work in the community and it’s nice to give back,” she said.
A single shingle equals $1,000 and the target is to reach $150,000, though organizers are hoping to reach $200,000.
