High School Musical on ice

Though they had to skip school to do it, a few area kids got the thrill of a lifetime yesterday morning, taking to the ice with stars of their favourite Disney production.

The cast of High School Musical: The Ice Tour glided on the ice at West Edmonton Mall’s Ice Palace with mini-figure skaters, showing them the tricks of the trade.

Nine-year-old Madison Moore could barely sit still while waiting for her turn to skate with the stars.

“I really like their songs and skating is really fun,” she said.

Star of the show, 19-year-old Brittany Heath, said: “Skating has always been my passion. This job doesn’t feel like a real job.”

The show runs this weekend at Rexall Place. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster from $20 to $55.
