The Calgary Board of Education will begin the work of revitalizing a major inner-city landmark school, signified by their sod-turning ceremony to take place today.

The historic Connaught School is the lucky school to be refursbished.

The focus of the work includes the complete redevelopment of the school’s gymnasium and the construction of an atrium attached to the school.

Original woodwork and other features will be retained, though the school will be built with the principles of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
