If sales of big ticket items were meant to suffer in a recession, then someone forgot to tell the new owners of a $10.3-million home in Calgary.
The price paid for the home — which used to be owned by former Flames goaltender Mike Vernon — is a record for the city, and the agent who sold it says the house sold in six weeks.
While this is a big sale, Todd Hirsch, a senior economist at ATB Financial says it is just one.
“I think it is a positive indication that there is still money in Calgary’s housing market, however you do not want to read too much into one sale.”
