The Nova Scotia housing market appears to be in recovery mode as fall statistics show sales were up almost 10 per cent from last year’s down year.

Housing sales through the MLS system were up 8.6 per cent provincewide between September and November, according to the Nova Scotia Association of Realtors

The Halifax Regional Municipality led the way with 1,191 sales, up 19 per cent over last year. The northern mainland region — which includes parts of Cumberland, Colchester and Pictou counties — had the worst outcome with 326 sales, down nine per cent from last year.

Listings were down 8.2 per cent overall.

The total value of homes sold through MLS was $474.2 million, up almost 15 per cent over last year.
