Two years into the Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, the Calgary Homeless Foundation is reporting solid progress.

More affordable housing has been created in the past two years than the last decade, president and CEO of the Calgary Homeless Foundation said.

“This is especially admirable given the current economic context — where high unemployment rates are coupled with high housing costs,” Tim Richter said.

However, the community is behind two targets in the plan: Ending family homelessness and stopping the growth of homelessness.

“We are getting a better understanding of family homelessness and are refocusing our efforts,” Richter added.
