Miss Calgary International is on a mission: Scour the city searching for bears … of the fuzzy variety.
Maryam Hassanvand, Calgary’s newest Miss Canada International delegate, is collecting teddy bears from around the city to donate to children in war-torn Uganda.
“This year our goal is to send 100,000 teddy bears to Uganda where violence has become common place,” said Hassanvand.
Hassanvand is working in co-operation with all the delegates of Miss Canada International who are collecting the teddy bears for Teddy Bears of Hope.
Hassanvand has been going to local malls, businesses, Sobeys locations and schools in an effort to collect the 100,000 stuffed toys.
Hassanvand has until July 7 to collect the bears. To donate, you can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org
