House fire in Quebec claims two girls, aged 9 and 15, other people injured

DONNACONA, Que. – Two girls aged nine and 15 have died in a house fire in Donnacona, about 30 kilometres west of Quebec City.

They were among seven people in the house when the fire broke out at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night. The five survivors – two adults and three children – were taken to hospital suffering burns and smoke inhalation.

Fire officials say one of the injured children suffered severe burns.

The bodies of the two children were found by firefighters on the second floor of the residence.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
