By becoming associated with success, people start viewing you in a higher regard, and you become aware of more opportunities. Here are five ways to network with successful people:

Take genuine interest in them: If you e-mail someone with sincerity, they will reply to you. If you reach out to a stranger and ask for a favor, they are going to disregard your e-mail.

Offer them something of value: If you have a special skill, then help someone solve their problem without asking for anything in return. You can bet they will reciprocate.

Cater to their ego: The No. 1 reason to start a blog is to network with others. By promoting successful people, through either a blog interview or a spotlight on them, they will be more inclined to engage with you professionally.

Get noticed by them: Successful people are more welcoming of other successful people. For instance, if you speak at an event where they are speaking, they will already know who you are.

Find people that know them: The shortcut to meeting successful people is by referrals. Review your social networks to see which of your friends might be able to make a personal introduction.
