HRP officer charged with assault

A Halifax Regional Police officer who works with Dartmouth schools has been charged with assault after he was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute.

On June 4, the RCMP said that it responded to a domestic dispute involving an off-duty officer and a woman known to him. As a result of an RCMP investigation, Const. Anthony George Sparks, 36, will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Aug. 4.

Sparks, who is from Cole Harbour and has been with the department for almost five years, served as a liaison officer in HRP’s educational program.

He is currently on administrative duties, and will not be working with the public.
