Hundreds of people, countless ideas and one ‘special’ night

Hundreds of people with even more ideas came out to Edmonton’s Next Gen Pecha Kucha Night 8 on Thursday.

Pecha Kucha Night is an evening of presentations on local ideas, projects and musings in a 20-slide, 20-seconds-per-slide format.

“It’s just a great way for them to get their idea out in a fun quick way,” said Brian Murray, co-chair of the evening.

“It really forces them to choose the right image with what they’re saying.”

Presenters included Dr. Indira Samarasekera, president and vice chancellor of the University of Alberta; herbalist Robert Rogers; and researcher Isha Datar.

“We usually get a solid turnout of about 500 or so and this one here is very special,” Murray said.

“It’s U of A alumni weekend and we even have the president of the university speaking.”

The next Pecha Kucha Night is scheduled to take place in March.
