Huskies fail to clinch playoff bye in tilt against Varisty Reds

The Saint Mary’s Huskies men’s hockey team’s bid to clinch a first-round bye will come down to the wire.

The Huskies suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the first-place New Brunswick Varsity Reds on Saturday before a packed house of 3,869 at the Aitken Centre in Fredericton, N.B.

A win would have virtually assured the second-place Huskies (18-7-1) a bye to the Atlantic University Sport semifinals. Only two games remain in the regular season.

The Dalhousie Tigers (4-21-1) lost a pair of games and have now dropped 11 straight and 18 of their past 19.
