The Saint Mary’s Huskies are heading into a pivotal interlock game with the McGill Redmen on a four-game winning streak with a berth in the Atlantic University Sport playoffs.

The Huskies dumped the Mount Allison Mounties 35-7 on Saturday in Moncton to improve to 4-1. Second-year running back Devon Jones rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns and caught a three-yard pass for a third major.

Veteran receiver Carl Hardwick hauled in a pair of touchdown passes, while second-year quarterback Jack Creighton went 11-of-15 for 134 yards and three touchdowns.

The Huskies are still chasing the 5-0 St. Francis Xavier X-Men, who beat the Acadia Axemen 21-10 on Friday.

Saint Mary’s visits McGill (3-2) for a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday.

Montreal beat the Sherbrooke Vert et Or 29-11 earlier in the season. The Huskies, meanwhile, needed a last-minute touchdown to narrowly beat Sherbrooke 26-23 on Sept. 26.
