Huskies prepared for battle

Saint Mary’s Huskies football coach Steve Sumarah says unequivocally his team is prepared for Saturday’s pivotal matchup against the Mount Allison Mounties.

“We have prepared harder this week than we have all year,” he said of the 2 p.m. game. “We are 200 per cent going after these guys.”

The Huskies control their own destiny going into the final two weeks of the regular season. With wins over Mount Allison Saturday and next weekend in Acadia, Saint Mary’s will finish first and get the much-sought first-round playoff bye.

But this Mounties team is no slouch. Like the Huskies, they are 3-3 and upended Saint Mary’s in Week 3, 23-21.

“The fact they came out and put it to us and beat us, it just makes this game all that more exciting,” Sumarah said.
