A talented 19-year-old Turkish songstress was in critical condition Tuesday after she was reportedly shot in the head while rehearsing at home in one of the Muslim country’s more conservative provinces.
Mutlu Kaya became a national sensation after her appearance on Turkey’s version of “America’s Got Talent,” called Sesi Cok Guzel.
The BBC is reporting that a gunman has been arrested in connection with the incident.
“The gunman was said to have been in the garden and fired through a window into the house,” the BBC says.

NBC reports that investigators are looking into the possibility that the shooter was a spurned lover jealous of the teen’s success.
Police have released no other information.
Kaya was preparing for another appearance at home and had told the show’s producers she had received death threats.
“I am afraid,” she told them.
The family lives in Diyarbakir province, a conservative, Kurdish-majority region in south-east Turkey.
Kaya's mentor is Sibel Can, a famous and beloved female Turkish folk singer.
Can personally recruited the beautiful young singer.
"My beautiful Mutlu how could they do this to you…. Her condition is critical" Can wrote on social media. "I wish her good health."
The Independent reports Mehmet Kaya, the singer’s dad, said: "I just want my daughter to be healthy and don't want anything else," he said.
"I am expecting help from Sibel Can,” he added . “She is like a mother to Mutlu."
