Ida Chong first MLA targeted in recall campaign

The first of three initial Fight HST recall campaigns will seek to remove Ida Chong, former British Columbia premier Bill Vander Zalm announced yesterday.

The B.C. Liberal MLA and Minister of Science and Universities will be targeted beginning on Nov. 22, followed in January by Terry Lake of Kamloops-North Thompson and Don McRae of Comox Valley.

“The plan is to hit the riding hard leading up to the holidays, take a short break at Christmas, and then finish the riding petition in the first and second week of January,” said Vander Zalm.

More than 600 canvassers will have 60 days to sign up 40 per cent of registered voters in Chong’s Victoria-area riding of Oak Bay-Gordon Head, beginning next week.
