IDSwest goes green and local

Today’s dream home is modular, eco-friendly, and locally made, as visitors to this year’s Interior Design Show West (IDSwest) learned this past weekend.

Preform Construction collaborated with 16 other B.C. designers on a demonstration modular home for the show, including green roofs by Mubi, an eye-popping Osha coffee table made from locally salvaged cedar and eco-friendly resin, and recycled paper lamps by local design firm Molo.

Preform’s modern, modular homes are custom-built entirely in their new Surrey factory.

“It’s slightly cheaper and very much quicker to have a house designed like this,” said Tony Robins, Preform creator and architect. Finished homes are delivered to customers complete with electricity, plumbing, appliances and even paint.
