Ignatieff wants his meeting with Obama to last at least 20 minutes

BROSSARD, Que. – Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff wants his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday to last at least 20 minutes.

Ignatieff says that’s what Prime Minister Stephen Harper got as Opposition leader when he met with then U.S.-president George W. Bush in 2004 just off Parliament Hill.

Obama will arrive in Ottawa on Thurday morning and be greeted by Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean.

He will have a private meeting with Harper on Parliament Hill and then have a longer encounter with the prime minister with their respective staffs present.

Ignatieff’s meeting with Obama is expected to be held at the airport before the president leaves Ottawa.

The Liberal leader says that, regardless of how long he gets with Obama, he will talk about border issues, free trade and Afghanistan.
