A contract extending the life of 10 Aurora aircraft was awarded to a Halifax firm.
Work has already begun at IMP Aerospace based at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Hammonds Plains and Amherst.
The military aircraft will have their outer wings, lower centre wing and horizontal stabilizers replaced. The work means the aircraft will be operational beyond 2025.
Several Aurora aircraft are stationed at 14 Wing Greenwood in the Annapolis Valley. They’re used for surveillance and search and rescue operations over the Atlantic Ocean.
IMP says the multimillion-dollar contract will employ about 100 people in the province.
