Impaired driving charges in crash last year

ANTIGONISH, N.S. – Police in Nova Scotia have laid more charges against a man arrested in a fatal crash last year.

The RCMP originally charged William Lionel Edmund Byron Fogarty of Antigonish with two counts of dangerous driving causing death after an accident in Tracadie on Nov. 24.

The two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 killed 16-year-old Kory Mattie of Linwood and 17-year-old Nico Landry of Monastery.

Police said today the 31-year-old Fogarty also faces two counts of impaired driving by drugs causing death.

He has been in custody since his arrest and is expected to return to Antigonish provincial court Thursday.
