As the 2009 Rexall Edmonton Indy is about to roar into town, it will also be bringing in some of the biggest names in Indy racing.
Among some of these top racers is Canadian-born, Chase Rookie of the Year for the 2009 Indianapolis 500, Alex Tagliani.
“I am taking this event kind of personally,” Tagliani said Thursday at Northlands Agricom.
After Tagliani’s hometown of Montreal lost its Formula One race last year, Tagliani has been looking forward to the Edmonton event and has expressed the importance of keeping Indy race events in Canada.
“We are trying everything we got to make sure that we protect it, and make it so big so it is a no-brainer to make it a tradition,” said Tagliani.
Tickets for the July 24 to 26, 2009 Rexall Edmonton Indy are now on sale through Ticketmaster. The event takes place at the Rexall Speedway at City Centre Airport.
