Despite scattered rain throughout the weekend, hundreds of thousands of people attended the 23rd annual Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival over the weekend. Dozens of balloons from all over the world, with fanciful shapes including bees, an angel and a devil, a dog and a clown, dotted the skies high above La Baie Park. Creating $9.3 million in direct economic benefits in 2009, the festival "has affirmed its place among premier events across Canada," said festival chair Alain Fredette.
