In an eerie coincidence, two people were killed by Amtrak trains in two different states at the same time — around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday.
One death was just outside Trenton, N.J. and the other in Fairfield, Conn.
In the Jersey incident, in Hamilton Township, a Washington to Boston train — the Northeast Regional — hit a person on the tracks west of the station, near Sloan Avenue.
The 541 passengers on the train, and its crew, were not injured in the Sunday 5:45 p.m. incident, according to reports.
The victim, whose sex, age, and identity were not released, died at the scene. Officials are investigating.
In the second incident, at the same time, a New Haven-bound train hit a woman on the tracks in Fairfield, Conn.
Cops told News 12 Connecticut that the victim seemed to be running over to the opposite platform when the train hit her on track 4.
