For Edmontonians, the Honda Indy is a once-a-year event worth checking out.
But for hardcore race fans like Scott and Liz Wright from St. Paul, Minnesota, the Edmonton Indy is one more stop during a long season of racing.
“This is my fifth time in Edmonton. It’s a great venue, the crowds are always huge so it’s an exciting atmosphere,” Scott said.
“A lot of people from the States don’t think about the fact that there are races up here and it’s a direct flight so, why not?”
Ken Bach, a local race fan, said he doesn’t know how long the Indy will remain in Edmonton but he plans on taking it in whenever it rolls into town.
“As long as there’s racing in Edmonton, I’ll be here,” Bach said. “When the sun is shining, nothing beats race day.”
