A city-employed health inspector has been charged after police say he accepted bribes in exchange for overlooking unsatisfactory conditions at a Toronto eatery.

The public health inspector conducted health inspections on a licensed bar that also functions as a café between Monday and Wednesday this week, say police.

Kerry Wong, 42, is charged with two counts of municipal corruption and one count of breach of trust by a public officer.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 25.
