Invasion hits anti-racism activist’s home

A city anti-racist activist believes he was the target of brutal invasion of his family home early Monday morning that sent two men to hospital.

Five masked men armed with blunt weapons forced their way into the home of Jason Devine on the 5400 block of 8th Ave. SE around 1:16 a.m.

Devine and his friend were brutally attacked with weapons, while his wife and four children remained unharmed inside the home.

The masked men fled the scene in a dark coloured SUV, according to police.

Devine and friend were transported to hospital with multiple injuries.

Devine was released from hospital around 6 a.m. with a concussion and large bruises to his arm and back.

His friend remains in hospital with a broken arm that requires surgery.

Police have no suspects and are working on determining a motive. Devine said there was nothing taken from the home.
