A 77-year-old P.E.I. man had to be treated in hospital after a home invasion in Summerside on Sunday evening.

The man was awakened from his sleep at about 10:30 p.m. after he heard someone inside his home.

When the elderly gentleman approached the suspects, a physical altercation took place, which eventually ended up outside the home.

Sgt. Sinclair Walker of Summerside’s Major Crime Unit said a neighbour heard the victim yelling and called the police.

“The suspects fled the scene but the neighbour got a description of the vehicle,” said Walker.

Approximately 30 minutes later police located a vehicle fitting the description on Central Street in Summerside.

Property from the robbery was located in the suspect’s car. One male has been arrested and is presently in custody.

The victim was treated in hospital and later released.
